Zero Day #6
Of course when I want to sleep in my body won't let me. I woke up at 7:30 and couldn't fall back asleep so I read my book until Henry woke up. We decided we wanted to zero but couldn't get ahold of anyone at the hotel or find any workers to ask if our room was available. We walked down to the Hiker Center and met up with Nate and Alex again. Nate had made Henry a vape holder that he can wear around his neck and it may be the single coolest piece of gear I've seen. No more midnight wake ups to Henry patting blindly around the tent floor looking for his vape LOL. We drank some coffee and each ate a donut from a box set out on one of the tables. Back at the hotel we found out our room was taken for the night but no one seemed to care when we checked out so we took our time packing up the room and wandered out into the street around noon. We ended up back at the Hiker Center and Nate and Alex invited us to stay in a cabin across the street they were staying at for free! We gratefully accepted, dropped our packs one of the bedrooms of the cute, rustic cabin, Henry and Nate nerded out over his sewing machine and material and then they gave us a ride down to the laundromat where we did some much needed laundry.

While waiting we went to the bakery and ate our fill of sausage kolaches (possibly one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten) and I had an eclair for dessert. Back at the cabin we borrowed bikes from the Hiker Center, switched our laundry and resupplied at the general store. Once we returned I laid down for awhile, Henry repeatedly checked in across the street raiding the hiker box for new goodies.

I called Mom and Gagoo on the porch and then the four of us went out to dinner at Southern Vittles. Henry and I stopped at an old fashioned ice cream parlor and bought ice cream sundaes and I finally felt like my caloric intake was replenished.
We wrapped up the night by watching Cannibal the Musical which was just as ridiculous and actually hilarious as it sounds. It was so nice hanging out with another couple and I wish they were hiking as well so we could continue the good times!
