Mile 623.2 to 649.4 (26.2 miles)
The morning passed by uneventfully as we hiked down a dirt road. We had lunch at a water source with Eagle, Voodoo, and Chaos, a German hiker we’d met on Day 3. We didn’t see any of them again for the rest of the day after pushing on.
The trail was absolutely beautiful and easy with almost no elevation but I felt tired all day, my pack was so heavy with the extra clothes we picked up at the post office and the long 17 mile water carry. At least I’m surrounded by beautiful blue skies and snow capped mountains.
Henry hiked ahead of me most of the afternoon and evening and I felt alone and sad. I completely broke down crying, sobbing, stumbling. So tired and needing to stop but knowing we wouldn’t camp until water. Negative thoughts filled my head, I was being so hard on myself saying I was weak.
I got to the tank sobbing and Henry was astonished lol. He kept asking what was wrong but I didn’t really know. He took my bottles and filled up my water while I set the tent up and crawled inside. As soon as I laid down I realized I was sick. I was shivering even though it was only a little chilly out and I was in the quilt. I wrapped it up over my head and Henry hugged me tight while cooking dinner. My entire body started aching like it does when you have the flu. I took some Aleve with shaking hands, ate dinner, drank as much water as I could and fell right to sleep cuddled up next to him.
